17. Use solar energy for producing electricity (Photovoltaics)

Another way of using solar energy is to produce electricity. The system is called photovoltaic system and it uses solar cells or photovoltaic arrays to produce electricity from the sun light. Solar cells could be placed on the roof or near the house. The power of solar cells is measured by W/sqm (Watts per square meter). Photovoltaics or generally “electricity from the sun” is sometimes called as the power of future. If you use clean solar energy, you don’t need to burn fossil fuels any more and that means no more pollution.

16. Use solar energy for water heating

If your geographic position has a lot of sunny days then you should use solar collectors to extract the energy from the sun and to transform this energy into hot water stored in water heaters – boilers. You can place collectors on the roof or near the house, maybe on garage or somewhere else. There are many different types of collectors available and a lot of experience with installing the solar system also. If you use clean solar energy, you don’t need to burn fossil fuels any more and that means no more pollution.

15. Check tire pressure

Air pressure in car tires should be checked regularly because of your safety on the road. Another very important reason for checking the pressure is to prevent driving a car with low pressured tires. Low pressure means higher fuel consumption. Check pressure every month.

14. Adjust air condition device in summer according to outer temperature

If outer temperature is 28 degrees Celsius in summer, you should adjust inner temperature on air condition device to no less than 24 degrees Celsius. It is not recommended to have more than 4 degrees Celsius difference between inner and outer temperature.

13. Use Thermostatic Radiator Valves

Thermostatic radiator valves are very smart devices used for more than 20 years for radiator heating. Thermostatic radiator valve regulates radiator temperature depending on room temperature. When room temperature reaches adjusted temperature on thermostatic radiator valve, then this “smart” valve automatically reduces radiator temperature … and vice versa … if room temperature is dropping then “smart” valve is opening and radiator gets warm again.

12. Go shopping once a week

If you go shopping every day you usually spend a lot of time, energy, fuel and money. If you change you shopping habits you could save fuel and reduce pollution… but you should make a perfect shopping plan with all things to buy.

11. Use your bicycle instead of a car

When traveling short distances it is recommended to use a bicycle instead of a car. Cold engine uses more fuel than warmed up engine, therefore your car uses more fuel when making just few kilometers or miles. It is better to use a bicycle and it’s also healthy for you.
